Livelihood support for Earthquake victims
The project is implemented in 3 VDCs of Sindhupalchowk District, one of the most affected by 2015’s earthquake, and in which the IDP (Internal Displaced Person) share is the highest (4,137 IDPs). The target communities have been selected from among the ones who have returned to their original pre-earthquake settlements from the IDP camps and are still in need of livelihoods and settlements recovery and rehabilitation.
1.500 people, especially women, are the project direct beneficiaries, and the project will reach 7,500 indirect beneficiaries in total.
The project’s outputs are:
Output 1
The returnee vulnerable households in Sindhupalchok District receive livelihoods recovery support:
- 400 individuals, in particular women, from among the IDPs and returnees, will participate in the Cash for Work programme (knitting);
- 300 vulnerable members of households, in particular women, from among IDPs and returnees will receive livelihoods recovery support through micro-grants or in-kind grants for income generation.
Output 2
The returnee vulnerable households in Sindhupalchok District are supported with winterization materials, allowing them to carry out the activities of the project:
- 800 of the most vulnerable individuals from among the IDPs and returnees will receive knitted winterization clothes and equipment.
